New England Journal of Medicine, 4/1/20:

"We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection. Focusing on universal masking alone may, paradoxically, lead to more transmission of Covid-19 if it diverts attention from implementing more fundamental infection-control measures...The chance of catching Covid-19 from a passing interaction in a public space is therefore minimal. In many cases, the desire for widespread masking is a reflexive reaction to anxiety over the pandemic... fear and anxiety are better countered with data and education than with a marginally beneficial mask, particularly in light of the worldwide mask shortage, but it is difficult to get clinicians to hear this message in the heat of the current crisis."

The World Health Organization published a document on June 8, 2020 which states:

"the widespread use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not yet supported by high quality or direct scientific evidence and there are potential benefits and harms to consider (see below)...the use of a mask alone is insufficient to provide an adequate level of protection".

New California Rules AFFIRM: Business, Retail, Churches, Gyms "may not exclude any member of the public for not wearing a face covering"

Following are excerpts from the state of California official documents dated July 1, 2020 and July 2, 2020 for places of worship, retail, and gyms. Links to the original PDF files are included.

"Businesses that are open to the public should be cognizant of the exemptions to wearing face coverings in the CDPH Face Covering Guidance and may not exclude any member of the public for not wearing a face covering if that person is complying with the guidance. Businesses will need to develop policies for handling these exemptions among customers, clients, visitors, and workers."

VIDEO: Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, states: "There's no reason to be walking around with a mask. When you're in the middle of an outbreak wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better, and it might even block a droplet, but it's not providing the perfect protection people think that it is." Watch the video here:

World Health Organization video states:

"Medical masks like this one can not protect against the new coronavirus when used alone. WHO only recommends the use of masks in specific cases. If you have cough, fever and difficulty breathing, you should wear a mask and seek medical care. If you do not have these symptoms, you do not have to wear masks, because there is no evidence that they protect people who are not sick."

Watch the video here:

Yet another World Health Organization video emphatically states that healthy people should not wear face masks: "You do not need to wear a mask. Masks alone can give you a false feeling of protection and can even be a source of infection... Do not touch the front of the mask while using it to avoid contamination. If you accidentally touch it, clean your hands."

6/7/20: "WHO does not recommend their widespread use among the public for control of COVID-19"

"Non-medical, fabric masks are being used by many people in public areas, but there has been limited evidence on their effectiveness and WHO does not recommend their widespread use among the public for control of COVID-19...the use of a mask alone is not sufficient to provide an adequate level of protection against COVID-19."

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association is a peer-reviewed medical journal published 48 times a year by the American Medical Association. On their website, JAMA states:

When Should a Mask Be Used?

"Face masks should be used only by individuals who have symptoms of respiratory infection such as coughing, sneezing, or, in some cases, fever... Face masks should not be worn by healthy individuals to protect themselves from acquiring respiratory infection because there is no evidence to suggest that face masks worn by healthy individuals are effective in preventing people from becoming ill."

"Arguments Against Wearing A Face Mask" by Ventura County CA Health Officer
This is a very helpful, must-see PDF dated April 27, 2020. Dr. Levin deserves credit for refusing to issue a facemask order in Ventura County. Unlike all the bureaucrats who issue these orders with no medical evidence, Dr. Levin actually posted 14 medical studies backing up his rationale. The 14 excerpts listed are very easily understood and digested. I highly suggest everyone read this short list because it includes several negative health effects of cloth masks which are not well known and are rarely if ever discussed, even among the 'anti-mask' crowd.

Study Reveals The long-term negative effects of face coverings on ventilatory function
These are very revealing excerpts from a professional university medical study conducted in Saudi Arabia in 2012, on the health effects of using face coverings known as "niqab". The study used 38 young healthy non-smoking and non-obese women. 18 of them wore face coverings for 4 or more hours per day and the rest did not. Note that in many references the doctors compare the effects with those of face masks. This is one of the few studies done on the long term negative medical effects of face coverings.

The University of Texas UT MD Anderson Cancer Center Ask the Research Medical Library:
Q. Are cloth masks safe and effective for preventing the spread of COVID-19? Apr 01, 2020
Views: 624
Summary of Evidence:

We found no validated evidence to support the use of cloth masks to protect against the spread of COVID-19.

1. Cloth masks are not recommended for healthcare professionals, particularly in high-risk situations. Moisture retention, reuse of cloth masks, and poor filtration may result in increased risk of infection.

Doctor says face mask is "basically a giant Petri dish you have strapped to your face"

Dr. David Lang, M.D., of Wisconsin explains: "Walking around with an ill fitted cloth mask is merely a reservoir for moisture and other disease causing bacteria. It most certainly will not stop any virus. Plus, every time you touch the mask and your face with your unwashed hands you are merely seeding your mask with any bacteria you picked up. It is basically a giant Petri dish you have strapped to your face."

Footage Of Anti-Maskers At OC Board Meeting: MUST SEE

Over 100 anti-mask citizens spoke at this very contentious board of supervisors meeting in Orange County, California on May 26. Nicole Monteilh Brown said, "You have seen how the people have been forced to exercise their First Amendment. Be wise, and do not force the residents of this county into feeling they have no other choice but to exercise their Second Amendment."

After the meeting, many people went to protest at County Health Officer Dr. Nichole Quick's home. She resigned the next day in shame, and her replacement rescinded the face mask order. This is a blueprint.

Peer-Reviewed Medical Study Concludes "cloth masks should not be recommended."
The Australian Research Council funded a study of cloth masks in 14 hospitals and concluded "the results caution against the use of cloth masks. This is an important finding to inform occupational health and safety. Moisture retention, reuse of cloth masks and poor filtration may result in increased risk of infection... there is scope for research into more effectively designed cloth masks, but until such research is carried out, cloth masks should not be recommended."

Prominent Neurosurgeon Dr. Russell Blaylock Warns: Face Masks Pose Serious Risks To The Healthy
"...are there dangers to wearing a face mask, especially for long periods? Several studies have indeed found significant problems with wearing such a mask. This can vary from headaches, to increased airway resistance, carbon dioxide accumulation, to hypoxia, all the way to serious life-threatening complications. By wearing a mask, the exhaled viruses will not be able to escape and will concentrate in the nasal passages, enter the olfactory nerves and travel into the brain."

Why Face Masks Don't Work: A Revealing Review
October 18, 2016
by John Hardie, BDS, MSc, PhD, FRCDC

This excellent essay is a must-read. Excerpt: The Inadequacies Between 2004 and 2016 at least a dozen research or review articles have been published on the inadequacies of face masks. 5,6,11,17,19,20,21,25,26,27,28,31 All agree that the poor facial fit and limited filtration characteristics of face masks make them unable to prevent the wearer inhaling airborne particles. In their well-referenced 2011 article on respiratory protection for healthcare workers, Drs. Harriman and Brosseau conclude that, "facemasks will not protect against the inhalation of aerosols." 11 Following their 2015 literature review, Dr. Zhou and colleagues stated, "There is a lack of substantiated evidence to support claims that facemasks protect either patient or surgeon from infectious contamination." 25 In the same year Dr. R. MacIntyre noted that randomized controlled trials of facemasks failed to prove their efficacy. 5

"Conclusions: This review has established that face masks are incapable of providing such a level of protection. Unless the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, national and provincial dental associations and regulatory agencies publically admit this fact, they will be guilty of perpetuating a myth which will be a disservice to the dental profession and its patients..."

Dr. Ron Paul on Corona Masks: Infection Prevention or Submission-Signaling?

American College of Physicians, medcal study published April 6, 2020: Effectiveness of Surgical and Cotton Masks in Blocking SARS-CoV-2: A Controlled Comparison in 4 Patients (Excerpts:)

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of surgical and cotton masks in filtering SARS-CoV-2.

Discussion: Neither surgical nor cotton masks effectively filtered SARS–CoV-2 during coughs by infected patients.

We do not know whether masks shorten the travel distance of droplets during coughing. Further study is needed to recommend whether face masks decrease transmission of virus from asymptomatic individuals or those with suspected COVID-19 who are not coughing. In conclusion, both surgical and cotton masks seem to be ineffective in preventing the dissemination of SARS–CoV-2 from the coughs of patients with COVID-19 to the environment and external mask surface.

World Health Organization 6/8/20: "The widespread use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not yet supported by high quality or direct scientific evidence"

The corporate media is reporting that the World Health Organization finally joined the CDC in recommending masks for everyone, but if you read the WHO's actual report dated today June 8, 2020, what it actually says is "Many countries have recommended the use of fabric masks/face coverings for the general public. At the present time, the widespread use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not yet supported by high quality or direct scientific evidence and there are potential benefits and harms to consider (see below)...the use of a mask alone is insufficient to provide an adequate level of protection"

Medical study: "higher infection risk posed by cloth masks"
Cloth masks: Dangerous to your health?
Date: April 22, 2015

Respiratory infection is much higher among healthcare workers wearing cloth masks compared to medical masks, research shows. Cloth masks should not be used by workers in any healthcare setting, authors of the new study say.

"The widespread use of cloth masks by healthcare workers may actually put them at increased risk of respiratory illness and viral infections and their global use should be discouraged, according to a UNSW study. The study found respiratory infection was much higher among healthcare workers wearing cloth masks... The penetration of cloth masks by particles was almost 97% compared to medical masks with 44%

"Effective controls of outbreaks and pandemics at the origin impacts us directly, so it is important for global disease control that the use of cloth masks be discouraged in high-risk situations," said Professor Raina MacIntyre, lead study author and head of UNSW's School of Public Health and Community Medicine.

"Despite more than half the world using cloth masks, global disease control guidelines, including those from the World Health Organisation, fail to clearly specify conditions of their use.

"These guidelines need to be updated to reflect the higher infection risk posed by cloth masks, as found in our study."

"...The trial was a collaboration between researchers in Australia and the National Institute for Hygiene and Epidemiology in Vietnam and was funded by an Australian Research Council Linkage Grant."

World Health Organization: "NO evidence that wearing a mask by healthy persons can prevent them from getting COVID-19"

A World Health Organization document entitled "Advice on the use of masks in the context of COVID-19" dated April 6, 2020 states, in part:

"There is currently no evidence that wearing a mask (whether medical or other types) by healthy persons in the wider community setting, including universal community masking, can prevent them from infection with respiratory viruses, including COVID-19. Medical masks should be reserved for health care workers. The use of medical masks in the community may create a false sense of security, with neglect of other essential measures, such as hand hygiene practices and physical distancing, and may lead to touching the face under the masks and under the eyes..."

Ventura County Public Health: COVID-19 and the Use of Cloth Face Masks Summary of Findings

Should cloth masks be worn during this COVID-19 pandemic in either the community setting or in places of business where food is sold?

1. There is no incontrovertible, compelling or even a preponderance of evidence to support an Order to wear a cloth mask in the community setting at this time.

2. I am supportive of cashiers and customers wearing cloth masks inside a grocery store or any essential business where social distancing is difficult to maintain. Supporting evidence is not strong enough to issue an Order to mandate the use of cloth masks at this time; consumer preference is already accomplishing this in most parts of the County.

Face Coverings, Distancing Orders Rescinded In Riverside County 5/8/20

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA - After nearly seven hours of public comments and discussion Friday, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to rescind county public health orders imposed amid coronavirus. No other county health orders are in place.

...At least one man who identified as a doctor and three people who said they were nurses expressed concern about the public face mask order, saying the practice is unhealthy and offers little to no protection against virus spread, especially by people who aren't trained on proper face mask use.

WHO: "Wide use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not supported by current evidence"

A recent World Health Organization brochure on COVID-19 includes some very revealing and helpful admissions. It states, in part,"As described above, the wide use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not supported by current evidence and carries uncertainties and critical risks. ...the following potential risks should be carefully taken into account in any decision-making process:

  • self-contamination that can occur by touching and reusing contaminated mask
  • depending on type of mask used, potential breathing difficulties
  • false sense of security, leading to potentially less adherence to other preventive measures such as physical distancing and hand hygiene
The use of masks made of other materials (e.g., cotton fabric), also known as nonmedical masks, in the community setting has not been well evaluated. There is no current evidence to make a recommendation for or against their use in this setting... WHO is also strongly encouraging countries that issue recommendations for the use of masks in healthy people in the community to conduct research on this critical topic. WHO will update its guidance when new evidence becomes available.

One study that evaluated the use of cloth masks in a health care facility found that health care workers using cotton cloth masks were at increased risk of infection compared with those who wore medical masks. Therefore, cotton cloth masks are not considered appropriate for health care workers.

Yet another World Health Organization brochure states:

When to use a mask:
Wear a mask if you are coughing or sneezing

If you wear a mask then you must know how to use it and dispose of it properly

Masks are effective only when used in combination with frequent hand-washing with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water

If you are healthy, you only need to wear a mask if you are taking care of a person with suspected 2019-nCoV infection
